For Reviewers

Your voice builds trust. Your integrity keeps it alive.

At Legitopedia, reviewers are the foundation of our platform. Every honest review you write helps others make informed decisions and holds businesses accountable — creating a more transparent internet.

This guide will walk you through how to leave a meaningful review and clearly outline the rules that keep Legitopedia fair and trustworthy for everyone.

Why Write a Review?

By sharing your real experience, you:

  • Help others avoid scams or poor service
  • Celebrate businesses that do things right
  • Contribute to a public, global database of transparency
  • Become part of a trusted community of digital citizens

What Makes a Helpful Review?

Strong reviews are:

  • Genuine – Written from firsthand experience
  • Descriptive – Include what happened, when, and where
  • Respectful – Criticize behavior, not people
  • Balanced – Share the good and the bad, if both apply

Avoid:

  • Personal attacks (e.g. “the manager is an idiot”)
  • Emotion-only statements with no context (“they suck!”)
  • Fake or second-hand stories (“my friend said…”)
  • Naming private individuals or sharing contact details

Want your review to stand out? Be specific, be fair, and stay factual.

How to Leave a Review on Legitopedia

Strong reviews are:

  • Log In or Create an Account
All reviewers must verify their email (and sometimes identity) to ensure fairness.
  • Find the Business
Use our global search bar. If it doesn’t exist yet, you can create a new listing.
  • Click “Write a Review”
Give your star rating and describe your experience in detail.
  • Add Context (Optional)
    • Date of service
    • Type of transaction (online order, phone call, in-person visit)
    • Proof of experience (optional attachments)
  • Submit and Verify
Your review may be published immediately or pass through moderation depending on content patterns.

You can edit or delete your review later — especially if the business has addressed your concerns.

Reviewer Guidelines

To keep Legitopedia trustworthy and compliant, all reviewers must follow these rules. These apply to every review, regardless of rating.

Allowed:

  • Real, verifiable experiences
  • Critical feedback based on factual events
  • Praise for good service
  • Honest opinions (clearly stated as such)

Not Allowed:

  • Reviews that contain hate speech, slurs, or personal attacks
  • Private data (e.g., phone numbers, names of employees)
  • Spam or duplicates (e.g., posting the same review many times)
  • Incentivized reviews (paid, gifted, or rewarded feedback)
  • Second-hand stories or unverifiable hearsay
  • Fabricated content (no real interaction took place)

Violations may result in removal of your review or suspension of your account. See our Terms of Use for enforcement details.

Examples

Not Helpful Helpful Alternative
“Scam!” “I paid on March 3 but never received the product. Emails bounced.”
“Excellent!” “Delivery was fast (2 days early), and support answered within 5 minutes.”
“Worst company ever” “Customer service was rude and hung up when I asked for a refund.”

What If I Break the Rules?

If a review violates our policies:

  • It may be flagged by users or businesses
  • Our moderation team will review it
  • You’ll be notified and may be asked to edit it
  • Serious or repeat violations may result in account suspension

We aim to educate first, enforce second — but we take integrity seriously.
