Content Removal Policy

Transparency, not censorship.

At Legitopedia, we believe that honest feedback — both positive and negative — is essential for creating a trustworthy online environment. However, we also recognize that not all content belongs on the platform. This policy outlines when and how content may be removed from Legitopedia, who can request it, and what users can expect from our process.

This policy complements our Terms of Use, Privacy Policy, and Reviewer Guidelines.

What Content May Be Removed?

Legitopedia reserves the right to remove content that:

  • Violates our Reviewer Guidelines.
  • Contains hate speech, threats, or abusive language
  • Includes personal or confidential information (e.g., names of employees, phone numbers, addresses)
  • Is proven to be false or fabricated
  • Was written in exchange for compensation or incentives
  • Is not based on a firsthand experience
  • Infringes on intellectual property rights
  • Is posted by a banned or impersonated user
  • Is part of a coordinated spam or review manipulation scheme

We may also remove content where required by law, court order, or applicable regulation.

Who Can Request Removal?

  • Users: Can request removal of their own reviews at any time from their profile or by contacting support.
  • Businesses: Can report reviews they believe are false, defamatory, or otherwise violate our guidelines.
  • Third parties: Can submit copyright, trademark, or legal complaints (see DMCA Policy — coming soon).

All reports are reviewed by trained moderation staff — not automated bots.

The Review Process

Once content is flagged or reported, we:

  • Acknowledge receipt within 48 hours.
  • Investigate the content using moderation tools and user history.
  • Request evidence (if needed) from either party.
  • Make a decision and notify both sides, explaining the outcome.
  • Allow appeals in select cases (particularly for reviewers with good standing).

We aim to respond to all requests within 7 business days.

When We Don’t Remove Content

We do not remove content simply because:

  • It is negative or critical
  • It impacts a business’s public image
  • A business requests it without evidence of a violation
  • It describes a legitimate, albeit unpleasant, experience

We are not a reputation management platform. We exist to host truth, not curate image.

Legal Takedowns

We comply with legally valid takedown requests (e.g., court orders, GDPR data removal requests). To submit a legal claim, contact:

Email: [email protected]

You may be required to provide supporting documents.

Contact & Appeals

If you think your content was removed in error, or if your takedown request was denied unfairly, you may appeal by contacting our support team:

Email: [email protected]

Include: Link to the content, reason for your appeal, and any relevant evidence.

We treat all removal and appeals processes confidentially and professionally.
